 Uniting Efforts
for Youth & Families

In Poughkeepsie, children and families face barriers like economic instability, fragmented services, and unequal access to resources that limit their opportunities and deepen inequities.

Transformative change requires more than individual programs or isolated efforts. It calls for a citywide collaboration where leaders, families, and youth work together to build pathways that empower every child and family to succeed

Coordinating Efforts, Aligning Goals, Driving Collective Action

The Poughkeepsie Children’s Cabinet turns this vision into reality by providing the structure and leadership needed for sustained, collective action. Founded in partnership with the Mayor and Superintendent of Schools, PCC is embedded in the institutions that shape children’s lives—ensuring long-term collaboration that drives real change.

As the city’s cradle-to-career backbone, we unite leaders, families, and youth to transform good ideas into lasting impact.

Why Cradle-to-Career?

Addressing complex challenges in education, health, and economic mobility requires a comprehensive strategy. Schools play a critical role but cannot solve these issues alone. Children and families need coordinated support at every stage of their journey, from early childhood through career readiness.

PCC’s cradle-to-career approach connects programs, services, and leaders to ensure no stage is overlooked. By aligning efforts across sectors, we address the systemic barriers that too often hold children back—creating a seamless pipeline of opportunity that fosters equity, justice, and long-term success.

As a proud member of the StriveTogether national cradle-to-career network, PCC collaborates with communities across the country to strengthen education and economic mobility outcomes through shared learning, best practices, and data-driven strategies.
